The North, the East, the South and the West united in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Thursday October 20, 2016 to celebrate the coronation of Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa as the 40th Oba of Benin.
The Oba title is passed down from father to first-born son. So the new king, whose birth name is Eheneden Erediauwa, ascends the 836-year-old throne of his ancestors (which is the oldest and one of the most revered) in place of his father, Solomon Akenzua, (His Royal Majesty Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa I) who died earlier this year.
