The troops completed the reclaiming of the town on Monday morning, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) said.

In a tweet on its twitter handle, the DHQ said: “Troops this morning completed clearing terrorists out of Goniri in Yobe State”.

The development is coming days after troops battled the Boko Haram terrorists in a determined bid to retake Damasak, a border town between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
