Rescued girls From Boko HaramNigerian troops have rescued some 200 girls and 93 women from Sambisa Forest, a major stronghold of the Boko Haram terrorists.

The girls and women were  rescued on Tuesday in counter-terrorism mission in the forest.

After the girls and women were taken, the Defence Headquarters announced the breakthrough on its Twitter handle.

The Defence Headquarters said the troops captured and destroyed 3 terrorists camps, including the notorious Tokumbere Camp in the Sambisa Forest Operation.

“The freed persons are now being screened and profiled. We will bring you details later,” the force office further said.

Some over 200 girls were abducted from their schools dormitory in Chibok, Borno State in north-east Nigeria on April 14, 2014 and have remained in the custody of the Boko Haram sect.

There are hopes that some of the girls rescued by the military my be part of the Chibo schoolgirls.
